        • Oil or ghee for deep frying

        Instructions

        Step 1: Make the Rose Syrup

        In a large saucepan, combine water and sugar. Add the cardamom pods and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the rose water. Set aside the syrup to cool.

        Step 2: Prepare the Dough

        In a mixing bowl, combine the milk powder, flour, and baking soda. Add melted ghee and mix well. Slowly add milk in increments, mixing gently to form a soft, smooth dough. Be careful not to over-knead the dough.

        Step 3: Shape the Dumplings

        Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into smooth, crack-free balls, about the size of a lemon. Ensure that the balls are smooth as cracks may cause them to break while frying.

        While still warm, place the fried Gulab Jamun into the warm rose syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing the flavors to blend beautifully. The dumplings will double in size as they absorb the syrup.
